Timber Creek High School’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Club will be hosting a video game competition on October 20, 2015 from 5 – 7 p.m.
Students who are interested in competing in the video game challenge can pay their entry fee of $20 at the door on the day of the event. The money will be collected at the engineering building block by the cafeteria entrance. Participants can reserve their seat for the video game challenge starting now in M 116.
Pizza and drinks will be available for all who participate. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
In addition to the video game challenge, the STEM club is looking to purchase a flying drone such as the “Phantom 2 Vision+.”
“STEM club members are investigating the purchase of the Phantom 2 Vision+” STEM Club sponsor and TCHS Engineering teacher Andre Dean said.
In the last year there has been a dramatic increases in the purchase of commercially used drones. There are different certification required to own and operate these machines. Timber Creek STEM club’s goal is to help students understand the drones and their uses. Students will be trained on the operation of Remotely Piloted Aircrafts and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.
Those who are interested in technology, science, math or engineering are encouraged to join STEM club.
