Track Prepares for 2016 Season

The Timber Creek High School track and field program has notably been one of the most successful athletic programs that has continued since the establishment of the school in 2009. The track coaches have both boys and girls working hard to assure them a successful and memorable season.

“We expect to compete just like we always do,” coach Christopher Simmons, regarding the teams’ reputation. He also mentioned the potential that the freshman have displayed, despite the loss of a great portion of the graduating class after last season.

“Jhane [King] is a big person to look out for,” Simmons says, “Trey Newson, too, and Hannah [Schenk], are great people.”

Not only is the program strong, the team shows great strength. “They are really good at encouragement, and some of the older runners are taking leadership roles,” Simmons said. Although the veteran track runners have experience and have a strong mental set, he also mentioned that the freshman “have a tougher time at pushing themselves. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have potential, because the coaches pay attention to the ones that do.”

Running is a tough thing to love, but it’s evident that Timber Creek has an exceptional program. With determination, we hope to see a great outcome.

“The coaches welcome anybody who would like to try track out to come out and try, we love it,” Simmons says.
