The Annual Chad Powell Memorial Special Olympics Track Meet is to be held Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Fossil Ridge High School. The busses will leave at 9 a.m. and they will be back between 1-2 p.m.

All participating athletes are matched with a buddy. Buddies are anyone who wants to help this event. Buddies make sure the athletes get to their events, as well as support and assist the athletes throughout the day when needed.

A buddy is required to attend one of the informational meetings to qualify and passing is also required, potential buddies need their teachers to sign off in order to confirm they’re passing. All applications are due by Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 with no exceptions.

Each athlete participates in one track event and one field event and can participate in an additional event as well. All ages can compete in this meet, athletes as young as second graders participate. Specifically from Timber Creek, we have 6-10 athletes that compete each year.

Regardless if you’re interested in being a buddy or not, organizers encourage students to attend the event.

“It’s lots of fun and makes a huge difference,” TCHS Teacher Jared Swart said.

If you have any additional questions regarding this event, you can contact Mrs. Rumer in room N 113 or Mr. Swart in room M 237
