Timber Creek’s theater department is giving away scholarships for theater camps over the summer. These scholarships are awarded regardless of age, race, color and creed or religious association.
Junior Haley Price was one of the students who were awarded a scholarship last year.
“Theater camp was one of the best experiences of my life,” Price said. “Theater people have this natural charisma about them that you just don’t find in any other social group.”
She also shared how the process went during camp.
“I went to Camp on the Coast at Texas A&M Corpus Christi last year. At this particular camp, we put on five different shows in two weeks. And once you’ve auditioned and are placed in a show, the next two weeks are dedicated to the show.”
Every student that applied for a camp scholarship last year were granted one to the camp of their choice. In total, 11 kids from Timber Creek went to a summer theater camp.
Applications for camp scholarships are due March 1st to the Theater Boosters.
“I think anyone that wants to go into theater for their profession or just wants to go to a fun camp and make a lot of good friends should really consider going to a theater camp,” said Price.
