Timber Creek’s UIL One-Act play, Silent Sky, advanced to the next round of a district-level contest on Thursday, March 24, 2016.
Students won several awards, including Best Actress (Caroline Norton), All-Star Cast member (Rylee Jones and Austin Klopfenstein) and Outstanding Technician (Blake Cooper).
This is the first time Timber’s One Act has advanced since 2010, making it a smash success for the well-deserving cast and crew.
A transcendent story of science, love and discovery, Silent Sky challenges perceptions of women in a male dominated field, with warmth and humor along the way. Timber Creek is one of the first schools in North Texas to produce the play that is based on the true story of astronomer Henrietta Leavitt and her findings.
“We’ve been working on Silent Sky since before Christmas break, and we’ve put so much heart into this production,” describes Caroline Norton, who plays Henrietta.
“We’re all a little apprehensive since this is our first time advancing, but we are confident in the show we’re putting on and are super excited to be performing again alongside tons of fantastic shows,” says Norton.
Students will compete next at a public Bi-District Contest in the auditorium of Lewisville High School at 1 p.m., on April 2. Admission is $5.
Can’t make it? No worries. Come see the free public performance of Silent Sky on Friday, April 15 in the Timber Creek Fine Arts Center.
