Earth Day is this Friday, April 22, and to celebrate the Earth Warriors will be walking around the cafeteria during the last ten minutes of each lunch period collecting aluminum cans.
The cans will be recycled and the money made will be used to buy and install more water bottle filling stations for the fountains in the north and south halls.
The environmental group previously helped bring two water bottle filling stations to TCHS at the start of the 2015-16 school year.
This is environmentally friendly in that it takes 95-percent less energy to recycle aluminum than to make it from scratch, so in doing this, we are conserving energy.
In turn, if the majority of the student body chooses to utilize the water bottle refilling stations as opposed to drinking bottled water, we are also cutting down on our waste output.
