Timber Creek High School Aerospace teacher Andre Dean was selected from across the nation for the prestigious Lift Off Summer Institute, which will be held at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas this summer.

Lift Off is a collaborative effort of Texas Space Grant Consortium members and affiliates, NASA, and the aerospace industry. The workshops are intent on increasing these selected teacher’s knowledge of space education, and organized around an aerospace or space science theme drawn from NASA’s diverse engineering and scientific research programs.

The competitive week-long institute includes a series of workshops, hands-on activities, field investigations, and presentations by NASA scientists and engineers working on diverse missions. The program combines the strengths of collaborators to enrich teaching and learning of science, mathematics, technology and engineering.

Educators selected will come together June 26 – July 1 in Houston to conduct experiments, tour facilities, and network with other educators. After the program, they will return to their districts, train other educators, and use these new materials in the classroom.

Congratulations to Mr. Dean for his selection!
