On Nov. 19, Timber Creek show choir, Falcon Pizzazz is going to be the featured group for the Sundance Square Christmas tree lighting. Their show starts at 6:00 p.m. and is approximately 30 minutes long, filled with Christmas cheer. They will present renditions of classics like ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ and crowd favorites like ‘Hot Chocolate’ from the Polar Express. Solos will also be performed by a few show choir members. Songs like ‘Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer’ and ‘Let It Snow’ will be some of the solos that TCHS students will perform in front a crowd of thousands of people.
Performing at the Sundance Square Christmas tree lighting is a tremendous honor for the TCHS show choir. Sundance Square personally requested Amy Fambrough to allow Falcon Pizzazz to perform and entertain guests for this big event. The TCHS choir directors along with the show choir choreographer, Ashley Kimbrough, have been preparing the show choir since the beginning of October. Falcon Pizzazz had a weekend day rehearsal and takes extra time from school in order to make the show spotless.
Some of the show choir members have admitted that the process has been stressful because there was a period where they were learning Christmas music and fall concert material at the same time.
“I was really excited to start Christmas music,” Mary McCasland, a seasoned show choir member said. “But when you realize that it’s harder then you think it was gonna be, and that it takes effort to make a 30 minute show that will please over five thousand people, it’s stressful but exciting.”
Despite the anxiety, the students are motivated to try their best. On Monday, Nov. 14, Falcon Pizzazz was introduced to a new chant that has helped them persevere through cleaning and perfecting choreography.
Kimbrough said, “When I say hard work, you say dedication. When I say dedication, you say hard work.” And this lifted up the spirits of the people as they shouted either dedication or hard work in the choir room.
Admission is free and the Christmas tree lighting includes pictures from Santa and hot chocolate stands. Go support your Timber Creek Falcons as they kick off the most wonderful time of the year.
