Timber Creek is set to open a School Store on Thursday, Feb. 23. The store will be located in the Birdhouse — where students normally purchase football tickets. Students will be able to purchase spirit wear, snacks and other essential ‘teenage’ needs.
Timber Creek business students have been managing the project and are tasked with opening and running the store. Students like senior Emma Tarter are in charge of the stores marketing. Each student in the class is responsible for a certain area of the store. The students will be using Point-of-Sale hardware with a touch screen to run the store. They will be trained with the system prior to the opening.
Other organizations are encouraged to participate and volunteer to help out the School Store. TCHS Interior Design and Graphic Design classes have already helped design the store logo and will help with the look of the store itself.
CTE student organizations can earn money for their group by signing up to work in the store. However, students must fill out an application when applying to work at the store. Applications will be released closer to the stores opening date. Additionally, students will be able to earn volunteer hours for both NHS and Green Cord. Students wanting to help out will be managed through an online system such as Signup Genius.
Connie Garcia, the business management teacher, holds high hopes for the school store.
“We want everyone to feel included and this will be a place students can go.”
