CTE teachers do an outstanding job of preparing our students for the future workforce and college readiness. This week we recognize our CTE teachers, and we hope that you will be sure to tell these teachers thank you for the wonderful job that they do for you each and every day.
Here’s a tidbit about Audio/Video Production: An estimated $2.62 billion was spent on film production in Texas between 1999 and 2009. There are more than 1,200 free radio and television stations in Texas. Texas college students can APPLY TO Intern with the Texas Film Commission in Austin. Every two years, the Texas Legislature selects Four artists To Represent the State in four positions—Poet Laureate, State Musician, Visual Artist/two-dimensional, and Visual Artist/three-dimensional.
Today, we recognize our AV, Ag and IT teachers. Here is some information about these Pathways.
AV PRODUCTION: Careers in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications career cluster require, in addition to creative aptitude, a strong background in computer and technology applications, a strong academic foundation, and a proficiency in oral and written communication. Within this context, students will be expected to develop an understanding of the various and multifaceted career opportunities in this cluster and the knowledge, skills, and educational requirements for those opportunities.
AGRICULTURE: To be prepared for careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources, students must attain academic skills and knowledge in agriculture. This course allows students to develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, personal development, globalization, industry standards, details, practices, and expectations. To prepare for success, students need to have opportunities to learn, reinforce, experience, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills in a variety of settings.
Principles of Information Technology: Students develop computer literacy skills to adapt to emerging technologies used in the global marketplace. Students implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. Students enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment.
If you have interest in any of these pathways, please see your counselor or a CTE teacher for more information.
