The STEM Club had resounding success and newfound popularity at the Vex Robotic Competition on Jan. 28, 2017 at Hillwood Middle School.
The showcased students involved were Diana Casarez Solis, Tomas Garcia, Nicholas Capitano, Luis Pinero, Robert Miller and Matthew Buenslida.
Each put in hard work and unique skills into creating their robots.
TCHS entered three of the four robots in the event, and was privileged to make it into the final competition with a little ingenuity and team work, thanks to their many sponsors, especially Shawn Shmuck. The students were able to answer some questions from several engineering firms, including Bell Helicopter and Lockheed Martin.
Working on these robots since the very beginning of school, and every Wednesday after school since, has definitely affected the members busy schedules, but not their motivation or determination to win.
“It was a spectacular experience that will go with our students to University and beyond.” Said STEM Club sponsor and engineering teacher, Andre Dean.
