Earlier in the year, Kim Smith, the Advanced Fashion Design teacher at Timber Creek, had the idea to put on a fashion show as a way to display the successes of the students in the program.
This event will be held Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. It will be held in the Fine Arts Center. It is free to get in, however they will have a donation bucket for Aaron Lancaster, a Timber Creek student involved in a hit-and-run accident earlier this spring. The show is set to feature designs from a few individuals as well as teams of designers.
“During the year we focused on the whole process of going from a sketch, to a pattern, then constructing the garments.” said senior designer Jonathan Samudio, “For the most part, the whole thing [was] student organized under the supervision of Mrs Smith.”
Earlier in the year, a model casting was held for other students to model for the show, and the students have been preparing for the show since the beginning of the year, with work becoming more vigorous as the day approaches.
“Fashion is expression of your personality and who you are as a person and what you love,” junior designer Emily Dixson said. “I love expressing myself and what I love.”
Though Dixson will not be able to attend the show in person due to a scheduling conflict, she is excited to see how all the designs look.
“It’s going to be so amazing to see, hopefully in a video, everybody’s designs,” Dixson said. “It kind of is a surreal thing to, like, see something that you’ve made and someone else is wearing it.”
