Katrina Cabungun, Daniel Kleveland, and Kelly Oliphint ranked in the top 150 out of 27,000 in the state of Texas at the VASE state art competition this last weekend.

Those three students received a Gold Seal, which is the highest level of award given and is equivalent to a state championship.

“I was amongst very talented artist, so it was really humbling to even be recognized,” said Oliphint. “It was a two-day event full of museums, workshops, and awards which I got to experience with people who had the same passion as me.”

Additionally, Katrina Cabungun, Tony Han, Avery Lindley, and Katie Roosa won scholarships at State VASE.

All in all, 27 Falcon students qualified for state, with a total of 30 works. Of those, 22 students received all-state honors, meaning they earned a top rating of 4 in the competition.
