In hopes to send a more than deserving family on a cost free, fun filled weekend, Marco’s Pizza is having a fund raising event on Jan. 31, from 11:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the pizzeria on 12650 N Beach Street. All proceeds will go directly to the Law family.
When purchasing pizzas, mention the Law Family Fundraiser. If an online order, apply Law Family Fundraiser at checkout, this applies to carryout orders only.
Tristan Law is a 10-year-old boy that attends Independence Elementary School. Law was diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy – a disease in which one lacks an enzyme that breaks down fats called sulfatides, which has no known cure.
Jessica Rush, the Director of Marketing at the Marco’s Pizza on Beach Street, is coordinating the fundraiser. She heard that others in the community were helping the Laws, and wanted to be of service as well.
“When I heard about it, it tugged at my heart strings,” Rush said. “I really wanted to find a way to do something wonderful for the family.”
Partnering with Marco’s Pizza is Sunshine Spaces, a nonprofit organization that plans to remodel the Law house while the family is on an adventure. The group will redo the boys’ bedrooms.
“I contacted Erica Foster, the woman in charge of the project for their [the Law family’s] home, and asked her if there was anyway we could do a fundraiser for the family and put it out for the whole community to participate in,” Rush explained. “She jumped on board and said absolutely, we would love to do that. So here we are.”
