On paper, the Falcons had a good looking 20-12 record, with all 20 wins over respectable competition. With tough fights they concluded their season with a 7-5 district record while also concluding many of the senior members basketball career.
The 2017-18 season saw new players break the varsity squad, such as sophomore guard, Jordyn Vicente. He feels as though throughout the season he has improved as a player in all aspects of his position.
“Mentally I’ve become a stronger player, i’ve become both a better a scorer and facilitator,” said Vicente.
Vicente hopes to build on his success junior year. As his young career blossoms, Vicente is showing promise of becoming a fantastic asset to the Falcons.
While Vicente’s career just began, senior teammates, such as David Valmore career’s are coming to an end.
Valmore has been apart of Timber Creek’s basketball team since he entered high school as a freshman. It was his sophomore through senior year when he really got to practice and be apart of the varsity team. Valmore was a team leader in all years he played for Timber Creek, although injuries plagued his season, Valmore stayed a humble team leader.
“I feel like the season was not as successful as it could have been due to me being out for the majority of District play,” said Vamore, “But the team carried on, and made the playoffs, so yes, I do believe it was a successful season.”
Jimmy Mouser is also a senior who works along side with his dad, Brad Mouser the coach and brother Michael Mouser who is a fellow teammate.
“It was awesome, I’m truly blessed to have had the opportunity to play the sport I love and be around my family at the same time, and it’s one of the biggest blessings to come in my life,” said Mouser. “I owe many of my successes to having my dad as my coach and my mom always being there. I’ll never forget the moments in high school basketball that’s for sure.”
While the season did not end how the boys wanted it to, the seniors are proud of their team, and young student-athletes are ready to follow in the footsteps of their fellow Falcons.
“We are a family and will always be a part of the first men’s basketball team in Timber history to go to playoffs back to back years. With all the time we spend together and hard practices we’ve had to get through together it really brings you closer to people,” said Mouser. “We have a special bond many other people will never have and that’s a blessing for sure. I will never forget this team.”
