Timber Creek art students have recently won Scholastic Art and Writing awards for their work. Jennifer Thompson’s sculpture classes and Chrissy Fitch’s painting classes submitted art to the competition in December.
“The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is a great event because it really encourages originality and having the students develop their own artist voice,” said Thompson in an email.
Twelve Timber Creek students entered their artwork to the competition.
“The Gold Key is the highest award received at the regional level. Danna Mejia Lopez is the first student I have taught to receive this award,” continued Thompson. “We are in a very large region and it is a great honor to receive it.”
