“We have a bowling club?” A question every member of the Timber Creek Bowling Team seems to get daily.
In fall of 2015 The Bowling Team got their first coach who was in the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), Paul Fleming. Fleming is the head coach for Timber Creek. He has been coaching professionally for over 20 years and within the past two years has been inducted into the North Texas bowlers Hall of Fame. Since fall of 2015 the team has won District Competition in 2016 and 2017, and made second place in 2018. They have made it to Regional Competition for singles and team at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth, TX, every year since 2015. The team has advanced to state competition for singles or team competition every year since spring of 2016.
Carolyn Dorin-Ballard has won 22 professional titles and has been selected for bowler of the year twice. Del Ballard Jr. has won 13 professional titles and is known to be one of the best coaches in the world. Fall of 2018 Dorin-Ballard and Ballard Jr. became the two new assistant coaches of the Timber Creek Bowling Team. They are both USBC (United States Bowling Congress) Hall of Fame bowlers and have won several major titles each.
Four members of the team have been bowling ever since the day they began to walk. Despite having practical bowling prodigies for a team, they are not the only students to have joined in the past year, the team also has four other team members who have just started bowling during their high school career, who have all made tremendous improvements at the sport.
“What is the bowling team?” The bowling team is a group of high schoolers who each one day either thought about how awesome it would be to “kick all the boys butts” said Kaitlyn Fleming, the first girl bowler to compete for Timber Creek. Or how “it’s a great way to find a group of friends to have for a lifetime”, said Ellie Drescher, who has dedicated her life to bowling since she was four years old. Or just because “there are cookies at tryouts”, expressed Cameron Yancy, a second year bowler. Bowling brings together one another to form a family that will last a lifetime.
I love Bowling. I should go more often
