It’s one thing to hear the name called and recognize the familiar catch phrase of a fan favorite movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, from Marvel Studios. But when you hear the call, it takes the meaning of “I am Groot,” to a whole new level.
Orion Xavier Groot and his brother, Dowen Icarus Groot are both freshmen and identical twins. The pair have seen the hit movie that inspired the phrase, but their surname isn’t necessarily what it seems.
“It’s Dutch,” Orion explained. “It’s actually pronounced (Grow-te). People just started saying it after the first movie.”
Although the twins are family by blood, the bond grows even stronger through something as simple, yet quite amazing, as a name.
These two brothers don’t simply think “I am Groot,” they look at each other and think, “We are Groot.”
