The homeless population in Tarrant County is up by five percent this year with over 2,000 people living on the streets, but if senior Hannah Blaschke has anything to say about it, many of them will be warm through efforts of a blanket for the homeless drive.
AVID teacher Christi Boswell’s life was changed in an instant when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkin’s Follicular Lymphoma (a type of blood cancer) in October of 2011. With the diagnosis, she had to take a break from her job as an educator. During this time, Boswell documented the illness through a blog to release what was going on personally.
Anatomy and Physiology teacher, Mr. Daniel Ward, attempts to address this trouble in society by taking an in depth look at the effects of breathing on stress and anxiety levels through his recently published book, “Exhaling Anxiety: Managing Stress at Any Age.”
The topic of college can be stressful to any high school student. In order to ease students of those stresses, representatives from the following colleges will set up in the cafeteria to aid students in their search for their perfect school.
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is hosting a canned food to give to kids and students in Keller ISD so that they don’t go hungry during the holiday season.
In Tarrant County alone there are 1,924 men, women, and children who spend their holidays without a home. The Presbyterian Night Shelter located in Fort Worth, along with their partner shelters, make it their goal to help the homeless live a little bit easier.
The Interact Club plans to make Christmas wreaths for the Whitley Nursing Home on Thursday, Dec. 6 in room S217 after school. The members hope to bring holiday cheer to residents in the nursing home and brighten their days.
On Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center, the band will hold their annual Winter Concert. The event is free of cost, and is a great opportunity to hear some classic holiday music.
Keller ISD has introduced a Piano Class as an elective course and pathway and is considering creating this class at Timber Creek.
