Michael Nelson Trout, more commonly known as “Mike Trout,” quite frankly gave it to the Rangers this week in Anaheim.
Apart from game 4 of the series, Mike Trout had won three games for his squad at home. On Thursday – the only Rangers victory of the series – The Rangers were able to hold Trout to 2 hits and a solo home run. For Rangers pitching, that’s not so bad. However, Friday night’s game is when the massacre began. Trout hit two home runs on the way to a 3-1 Angels victory, but the worst in the series was yet to come for Texas.
Saturday’s game was the apex of the series for Trout, as he walked twice and hit a monster grand slam to make the game 4-0, a setback the Rangers could not overcome. Finally, in the series finale, the Rangers attempted to pitch around the streaking Center Fielder, which worked for three at-bats, but in the bottom of the sixth inning – it happened. Trout received a waist high fast ball from Kyle Bird, and it was promptly deposited into left center field for a two-run blast. So Trout’s series stats stand like so: 6 hits in 9 official at-bats, 9 runs batted in and FIVE home runs.
I don’t have much to say this week, I just hope that the Rangers’ pitching improves. I’m all in on Adrian Sampson, and I believe that he could be a fantastic one-two punch with Mike Minor, especially since Edinson Volquez’ career may soon be over. Rangers take on the Red Sox killers, the Diamondbacks, for the first game of the series tonight. Pray for a win.
