Students Direct Shows for Class Play Festival on May 4

Students will be putting on self-directed shows in the Fine Arts Center on Saturday, May 4. Each show will be performing back to back with the first one starting at 9 a.m.

Working on their productions since January has allowed the theater students time to grow as a director, perfect minute details and ensure that all their cast members know their lines and moves. Although it was stressful at times, the directors are very excited and thankful to finally see all their learning and hard work in action. It was a learning experience for all who was involved.

“Every detail matters. Nothing is placed carelessly or decided without a thought,” student director Brennan Wright said. “Even something as simple as a table should have a purpose.”

Following the final performance will be an awards ceremony and critiques for students to learn from. The shows that receive first and second place will continue on to compete at the District class play festival on Saturday, May 11 at Keller High School. They will be competing against other KISD theater departments’ top two shows for the final prize.

“I’m really excited to share this story because it really focuses on some important topics but it just tells a beautiful story,” student director Maddie Ott said in regards to her show about a struggling college student. “It’s [also] a really great way to end my senior year.”

‘Proof’ by Aaron Lancaster and Raegan White will perform at 10 a.m.
