Unfortunately, author Neal Shusterman’s planned visit to speak to Falcons on Monday, Nov. 18 has been cancelled. As of right now, Shusterman’s visit has not been rescheduled.
“We have some sad news. Unfortunately, Mr. Shusterman has a family emergency and is in Hong Kong,” the district library coordinator said. “He is unsure when he’ll be able to return, so we are cancelling Monday’s event with him. We are working with his publicist to reschedule.”
The award winning author was scheduled to speak in the Fine Arts Center on Monday, Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. In order to have attended the event, students would’ve had to pick up a permission slip and turned it into librarian Brandy Abbott. Now that Shusterman won’t be making an appearance, it is expected that all Falcons attend their 4B and fifth periods on Monday.
Shusterman is an American writer known for his young-adult fiction work. He won the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature for his book Challenger Deep, as well as the Golden Kite Award for Fiction for the same book. He is also known for his books Scythe, published in 2016, Unwind, published in 2007, and Dry, published in 2018.
“We’re sorry to disappoint everyone, but we will work as hard as possible to reschedule,” the district library coordinator said. “We’ll update you as more info is made available.”
