Starting Monday, April 13, Keller ISD will move to a two-day per week meal distribution schedule. It will continue with its current daily schedule the week of April 6-9, but will be not be distributing meals on Friday, April 10 due to a school holiday. To cover families for the lack of distribution on Friday, meals for both Thursday and Friday can be picked up on Thursday, April 9.
Continuing to be served curbside, meals will be distributed on Mondays and Wednesdays during its normal hours of 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same 11 locations. On Mondays, staff members will distribute both Monday’s and Tuesday’s meals while on Wednesday they will give out meals to last Wednesday through Friday.
Meals will be distributed on Mondays and Wednesdays at the following KISD campuses:
- Basswood Elementary School (3100 Clay Mountain Trail, Fort Worth, 76137)
- Bluebonnet Elementary School (7000 Teal Drive, Fort Worth, 76137)
- Caprock Elementary School (12301 Grey Twig Drive, Fort Worth, 76244)
- Eagle Ridge Elementary School (4600 Alta Vista Road, Fort Worth, 76244)
- Friendship Elementary School (5400 Shiver Road, Fort Worth, 76244)
- Heritage Elementary School (4001 Thompson Road, Fort Worth, 76244)
- Keller-Harvel Elementary School (635 Norma Lane, Keller, 76248)
- North Riverside Elementary School (7900 North Riverside Road, Fort Worth, 76137)
- Parkview Elementary School (6900 Bayberry Drive, Fort Worth, 76137)
- Sunset Valley Elementary School (2032 Canchim Street, Fort Worth, 76131)
- Whitley Road Elementary School (7600 Whitley Road, Watauga, 76148)
“While we will continue to feed our kids, we will do it while reducing the number of interactions,” Superintendent Dr. Rick Westfall said in a tweet.
Each meal will include protein, grain, fruit, and vegetables along with the optional choice of milk. KISD is asking that parents remain in their cars as they drive through to pick up meals. They may pick up meals without their children present but should be prepared to show their child’s student ID badge or provide the ID number. All children in Keller ISD are eligible to receive meals as it is not restricted to those on the free or reduced lunch plans.
“I think it’s amazing that that was one of the first things KISD put in place,” senior Jaimie Schubert said in regards to the program. “It’s something that is so important to so many families and KISD is really blessing those families and students right now.”
Furthermore, the Community Storehouse is continuing to offer support to families within the Keller ISD community at this time. Remaining open at their normal hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays, they are offering both emergency food boxes (with provided ID only) and monthly food support (additional documents needed).
