On Friday, April 17, Texas Governor Greg Abbott amended his Executive Order calling for all schools to remain closed in the state of Texas through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. For Keller ISD facilities, this means that all events and activities are cancelled through the end of May.
The Class of 2020 have rescheduled dates for Prom and Graduation due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the continued closure of schools.
Due to school cancellations because of the spread of COVID-19, the College Board has moved toward developing online tests that students can take at home. This year’s exams will be given later than expected, starting the week of May 11.
Sports around the world have been delayed or postponed and Falcon athletes in multiple sports have experienced no exception to these cancellations.
Starting Monday, April 13, Keller ISD will move to a two-day per week meal distribution schedule. It will continue with its current daily schedule the week of April 6-9, but will be not be distributing meals on Friday, April 10 due to a school holiday. To cover families for the lack of distribution on Friday, meals for both Thursday and Friday can be picked up on Thursday, April 9.
For students and a number of adults, the COVID-19 outbreak has led to a shelter in place order, enforcing learning and work from home. For essential workers, however, this luxury has not been afforded.
